Hey everyone, and welcome to #MintCasts, our MintPress podcast series.
I’m Mnar Muhawesh, editor-in-chief of MintPress, and I will be your host. Gaza is in flames, three Israeli teens are dead, Palestinian children have become victims of revenge attacks by Jewish settlers for the death of those three teens that we have yet to know who even killed them, and now there’s rumors of a third Intifada on the horizon. Israeli politicians are being blamed for stoking the settler violence against children and blatant racism against Palestinians, as politicians like Netanyahu called for vengeance for the death of the three Israeli teens.
Tensions are high, and thanks to social media and people of conscience, the world saw for the first time in a long time the racist and violent culture of Israeli settlers after 17-year-old Mohammad Abu Khdair was kidnapped, then forced to drink petrol, and then burned alive by those settlers. Now, even U.S. media is paying close attention to the events there, after an American 15 year old was nearly beaten to death by Israeli soldiers for passing by the wrong place at the wrong time.
Here to talk about what’s happening on the ground is journalist Sheren Khalel, a Palestine and Israel freelance correspondent for MintPress as well as for Vice, Middle East Monitor and Ma’an News Agency.
Also joining us today is Matthew Vickrey, who is also a Palestine and Israel freelance correspondent for MintPress as well as for Vice, Middle East Monitor and the Middle East Eye.
